Katy and I had dinner out with our friend Don last night so there wasn't a blog entry. The past two days have been about the same. Jack has breakfast with us in the kitchen, spends the rest of the day in his chair in the living room reading, watching TV, napping and making the 10 foot trek to visit Mrs. Murphy. In the evening he joins us back in the kitchen for cocktail hour and dinner.
Since we stopped bugging him about drinking water and moving around he makes a show of getting a glass of water after breakfast and then drinks about 6 ounces for the whole day. Each day he made one "exercise" trip from the living room to the kitchen and back.
This weekend we will need to have a heart-to-heart with Jack. On the one hand, he wants to move back to Mt. Arlington but on the other he refuses to do any of those things that will improve his ability to take care of himself.
Fortunately, Greg called and knew just the thing to cheer Jack up - a picture of his poison ivy.
Funny, when I spoke to Pa on Wed night he said he was drinking water "constantly" and moving around & exercising "alot" (including outdoors). I guess it's all a matter of perspective. He seemed very anxious to come home. Greg, if you keep the ball on the fairway you don't get poison ivy. Chris
ReplyDeleteUncle Chris - that wasn't very nice :)
ReplyDeleteYes, I would imagine it's all a matter of perspective. Praying the heart-to-heart goes well this weekend.
Love,
Kate
I can't help but think of that old saying: you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink!
ReplyDeleteIts tough to motivate people - they have to want it. Sounds like moving back to Mt. Arlington should be motivation, but it also sounds quite nice at Wildacres!
Fortunatley I don't miss fairways very often, but the rule moving forward is when I do its a donation to the clubs used ball bin. I actually caught it in the back of our property cutting some vines, silly me thinking the stuff was dead due to a round-up spray a couple of weeks earlier.
ReplyDeleteWe'll see how the steriods I have been on for 10 days help my distance this weekend!
Hope his general mood and motivation improve this weekend...would think at this point he would be trying to do things to get himself back to his normal routine.
Might be all that good cooking he keeps talking about Katie!
